Our Values

Here’s what we stand by.

Our Values

Access and opportunity
This organisation is about opportunity for everyone. It’s about ensuring that every young no matter who they are, no matter their circumstances, have the opportunity to: receive a quality affordable education, live in safe and stable housing, and earn a living wage. A strong social safety net and great public services are the bedrock of equality and opportunity for all.

Diversity and inclusiveness

It’s about ensuring that our parliament reflects the diversity of our communities. Our society is better when people work together. Strong communities benefit from the input of every voice, and everyone’s full participation. We can about the intersecting oppressions that young people have and acknowledge how they impact young people seeking opportunities. We don’t use ablest language and refer to policies as “crazy”, “insane”, etc.

Fairness and sustainability

Young Australians work hard, study hard, and contribute so much to public life. But no matter how much we play by the rules, we’re still unable to get ahead. It’s time for a change. It’s time for our politicians to put young people on the agenda. It’s time for policies that consider the future.

Empowerment

Young Australians have nuanced and important contributions to make to public debates about our shared future. We can make Australia a place where being young doesn’t mean being ignored. Where young people are taken seriously by decision-makers, where young people are decision-makers.
